National Virtual Conference on: postcolonial discourse and postcolonial studies: issues, prospects and perspectives

The concept of Postcolonial studies has always been linked to that theory which searches and establishes a greater intellectual opportunity for different people to voice their concerns using their own or other peoples’ languages, and hence produce interdisciplinary discourses ranging from philosophy, literature, culture, language, society, politics and economy. Postcolonial discourse serves as an endeavour to balance the prejudiced ‘selves and others’ binary power relationships and thus abrogate the ‘us and them’ dichotomy with reference to excoloniser and excolonised subjects; i.e. how Westerners view Easterners as Others and vice versa. The publication of Edward Said’s book Orientalism (1978) directed much attention towards, raised endless debate on, and enlarges diverse areas of focus on Postcolonial theory. Looking forward to offer a chance to accumulate and exchange a stimulating set of academic/scientific experiences through the present conference
